WEEK 2 PREDICTIONS

The last time we saw these two teams face off was back in 2013, in Big D. This was the shoot-out game with Peyton Manning and Tony Romo, going at it. The Cowboys made a valiant comeback, but in the end the Denver Broncos sealed the deal with a game ending interception. The last time Dallas beat Denver I was 9 years old! The same year Toy Story, Mortal Combat, and Billy Madison were released in 1995. Given, these teams don't see each-other often, but it has been a long time coming for a win. Let's dive into this Sunday's Heavyweight fight and look at some key pieces in this game.

VON MILLER

Von Miller is a player you can prepare for all week, but in the end it doesn't matter. He is the best pass rusher in the league in my opinion. He ended week one with four tackles, four quarter back hurries and one quarter back hit. He was drawing double teams and was the biggest part in stopping the running game of the LA Chargers in the second half. He finished with a game high rating of 86.2 (via Pro Football Focus). He claims to not need sacks to be effective and elite and I agree with him. Offensive lines putting a lot of their focus on Von, opens things up for his other talented defenders. I for one will be watching him against Tyron Smith as much as possible, but they will be moving him all over the field. A lot of people believe Dallas has the best O-line in the league, this will be a true test.

The O-Line of Dallas

This Offensive line did a great job last week against a strong front four of the NY Giants. This week they will have to replicate that and then some. The Denver front in my eyes is even stronger than New York's. They kept the pocket clean all game for Dak Prescott week one. They opened holes for Ezekiel Elliott and helped him get another 100 yard game as well. This unit will have to do what it does best and establish the run game. I know Denver will be bringing heat all game and will want to make Dak uncomfortable. Getting the run game going can slow that down and hopefully create some play action opportunities. The battle in the trenches will ultimately determine this game.

C.J. ANDERSON

C.J. Anderson had a good start to the season and the offensive line looked like it has improved this season. He averaged 4.1 yards per carry and ran for 80 yards. Dallas is very good against the run, but Denver will need to get C.J. and the run game going, in order to get their offense on point. I think they need to get him going early and often to get that Dallas defense gassed.

EZEKIEL ELLIOTT

Elliott started the year off with a 104 yard game. The reason he is so important in this game is due to his ability to extend the play. His yards after contact in the Giant's game were impressive and there were a lot of plays where he got 3 yards after getting hit behind the line. He also had five catches for 36 yards. His total yards from scrimmage were 140 yards total. He received a 79.6 rating (via Pro Football Focus). He will need a big game and I think they need to get him involved in the passing game. Denver will be attacking and some dump passes to Zeke could really get the Offense going. He is seeking to become the first player in NFL history to have 16 straight 80 yard games. I believe he achieves it.

PREDICTION

This has been a tough one for me. Call me biased, I am taking the Boys in a choppy game, 24-20. Should be a fun & physical game to watch.
